The South African Book Fair is now owned by the South African Book Development Council and will be incorporated into the successful annual National Book Week, which has already established itself in the SA calendar in the first full week of September.
The Fair will take place between 8 to 10 September 2017, at Museum Africa in Newtown in the City of Gold.
SA Book Fair presents “a unique opportunity for the book publishing industry to collectively position itself as a relevant, inclusive and important part of South Africa and Africa’s development. It is an opportunity to interact and engage with all links in the value chain, with government and the public at large. In turn, South Africans from all walks of life will be able to access the diverse content produced by its world class book industry, listen to, mingle and debate with a wide variety of authors.”
South African Book Development Council – led by Elitha van der Sandt – took over the ownership of the Fair. In 2016, the Fair was not organised and it is coming back this year.
